In Ohio, residents are responsible for keeping fire hydrants clear of snow and ice during the winter to ensure quick access for firefighters. You should clear at least a three-foot area around the hydrant and, if possible, create a path from the hydrant to the street. This act is crucial because snow-covered hydrants delay emergency response time, potentially costing lives.
